Managed by the Canadian government, the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) immigration program enables foreign workers with valuable work experience in Canada to apply for permanent residency. The program is geared towards attracting skilled workers who have already contributed to the Canadian economy and are likely to successfully settle in the country. As part of the Express Entry Program, CEC is one of three immigration programs, the others being the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).
The CEC is a program that allows for the relatively quick acquisition of permanent residence in Canada. Applications should be processed within 3–4 months on average, which is quicker than other immigration programs.
To be eligible for CEC, applicants must have a minimum of one year of skilled work experience in Canada, which also adds to their CRS points. This implies that the duration of employment in Canada can be counted towards meeting the requirements for permanent residency, making it easier for skilled foreign workers to qualify.
CEC applicants and their families have the right to use Canadian social services and benefits, such as healthcare, education, and social security, as long as they are permanent residents.
After obtaining permanent residency through the CEC, candidates may finally submit an application for citizenship. This enables individuals to take use of all the privileges that come with becoming a citizen of Canada, such as the ability to vote and run for public office.
