Requirements for BNO Household Member Route Visa UK To successfully apply for entry clearance under the BNO Household Member Route, the following criteria must be met:

Valid Application

Applicants must submit a valid application from outside the UK, in accordance with the specifications in Appendix Hong Kong British National (Overseas) of the Immigration Rules.

Age and Date of Birth Requirement

Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of application and must have been born on or after July 1, 1997.

Relationship Requirement for BNO Household Members

If you are applying for entry clearance or permission to stay and do not currently have permission under the Hong Kong British National (Overseas) route, you must:

1- Be the child of a person who is, or was (before their passing), a British National (Overseas) under the Hong Kong (British Nationality) Order 1986, or

2- Be the child of a person who is simultaneously being granted permission as a partner on the BN(O) Status Holder Route, and

3- Be part of the same household as the BN(O) Status holder, meaning you normally reside with them.

Ordinary Residence Requirement

Applicants must be ordinarily resident in Hong Kong at the time of application. Evidence of residence can include but is not limited to:

1- Official Hong Kong ID card or permanent ID card

2- Itemized bank statements

3- Employer letters confirming employment in Hong Kong

4- Visa, residence permits, or other immigration documents

5- Educational records, such as school reports

6- Tax records

7- Rent or mortgage payment records

8- Pay slips

9- Utility bills

10- A valid tuberculosis certificate

11-Passport stamps showing travel to and from Hong Kong

Suitability Requirements

Applicants must not be subject to refusal under Part 9 of the Immigration Rules, which outlines grounds for refusal.

Financial Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate that they can maintain and accommodate themselves without relying on public funds for at least six months. This can include credible third-party support, with funds documented according to Appendix Finance. Accommodation will be deemed inadequate if it is overcrowded or violates public health regulations.

Tuberculosis Certificate Requirement

If applicable, applicants must provide a valid medical certificate showing they have been screened for active pulmonary tuberculosis and are clear of the disease, as required by paragraph A39 and Appendix T of the Immigration Rules.

Duration and Conditions of Grant for BNO Household Member Route Visa

If an applicant does not hold permission under the Hong Kong British National (Overseas) route at the time of application and is the child of an individual being granted permission as a partner on the BN(O) Status Holder route, the applicant will receive permission that aligns with the expiration date of the BN(O) Status Holder's permission, provided they are part of the same household. The granted permission will include the following conditions: 1- No access to public funds.

2- Employment and self-employment are permitted, except for roles as a professional sportsperson, including positions as a sports coach.

3- Study is allowed, subject to the conditions outlined in Appendix ATAS.
