To be eligible for switching to a T2 Minister of Religion Dependent Visa, the applicant must meet the
following requirements:
Valid Application: Submit a valid application for switching to a T2 Minister of Religion
Dependent Visa.
Switching Requirement: Fulfill the immigration status criteria necessary for switching to a T2
Minister of Religion Dependent Visa.
Relationship Requirement: Meet the relationship criteria as specified in Appendix T2 Minister of
Religion of the Immigration Rules.
Age and Care Requirement: Dependent partners must be 18 or older at the time of application
unless they were last granted permission as a dependent child. Applicants under 18 must have
appropriate care and accommodation arrangements in place in accordance with UK laws and
regulations.
Suitability Requirement: Must not fall under refusal grounds specified in Part 9 of the
Immigration Rules.
Financial Requirement: Meet the financial criteria as outlined in Appendix T2 Minister of
Religion of the Immigration Rules.
Compliance with Immigration Laws: The applicant must not be in breach of immigration laws,
except for any period of overstaying that can be disregarded under paragraph 39E, and must not
be on immigration bail.
Who Cannot Switch to a T2 Minister of Religion Dependent Visa?
Applicants in the UK cannot switch to a T2 Minister of Religion Dependent Visa if they have, or last held,
permission as:
A Visitor
A Short-term student
A Parent of a Child Student
A Seasonal Worker
A Domestic Worker in a Private Household
Relationship Requirements for a Dependent Partner of a T2 Minister of Religion
To qualify as a dependent partner, the applicant must meet one of the following conditions:
The sponsoring partner must hold a T2 Minister of Religion visa.
The sponsoring partner is applying for and granted entry clearance under the T2 Minister of
Religion route.
The sponsoring partner has settled or obtained British citizenship, having previously held a T2
Minister of Religion visa, and the applicant had permission as the partner at that time.
If the applicant and their T2 Minister of Religion partner are not married or in a civil partnership,
additional requirements must be met:
They must have lived together in a relationship akin to marriage or civil partnership for at least
two years prior to the application.
Any previous relationships of either party must have ended permanently.
The relationship must not be so closely related that marriage or a civil partnership would be
prohibited in the UK.
The relationship must be genuine and ongoing, with both parties intending to live together throughout
the applicant's stay in the UK.
A dependent partner of a T2 Minister of Religion who successfully switches to a T2 Minister of Religion
Dependent Visa will be granted leave to remain in the UK until the same date that their partner’s T2
Minister of Religion visa expires. For a child dependent, the permission will end on the same date as the
earliest expiration of either parent’s visa.
The visa will come with the following conditions:
No access to public funds.
Permission to work (including self-employment and voluntary work), except as a professional
sportsperson (including sports coaching).
Permission to study, subject to the Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) condition if
the applicant is over 18.
Requirement to register with the police if applicable under Part 10 of the Immigration Rules.
